Aaron Watson Sends Us Down Memory Lane

One of the best things that I think that has come from social media is a look back in the past.  It’s like that old drawer at home that is stacked full of photos that your family took over the years – from baby photos to birthdays to that awkward stage in high school (we all had one) and everything in between.

Aaron Watson put a post on his social media that will make you want to take time today and dive into that drawer.

He captioned the post “How was this 10 seasons ago… my how time flies. good first game of the season @thejake_watson

This made me think of many fond memories I had growing up in Oklahoma with my family.  Riding horses with my mom, the countless hours she would spend driving me from rodeo to rodeo or the long nights in the practice pen with both her & dad to rope calves for hours upon hours.  Or playing catch with dad after he just worked a 12 hour shift making sure I was ready for the tournament that weekend.  My parents made so many sacrifices for me growing up that I never acknowledged until recently.

Go down memory lane with them if you can or whoever it was that helped you out when you were younger.  I am going to challenge you with calling home from time to time or driving over.  Break out the photo albums and see them light up talking about stuff.  I have taken so much for granted with them being so amazing.

If you have kids, take time to actually spend time with them. Take the photos. Make the roadtrips. Spend that time together so when you look back or maybe they look back they can see how much you mattered to them!

My family didn’t have tons of money when I grew up but we made the most of everything.  We took several roadtrips across country and spent lots of nights in a tent.  It was some of the best times ever.. it was because my family spent time together and yeah we are far far from perfect but the love we have is what holds us close.

It is never too late to start making those connections with family or memories.

Call home.
